Cosmetic Dentistry

A sparkly smile has a profound effect on how young you look. A whiter and brighter smile that reveals even teeth and a healthy, gleaming pink gum line can take ten years off of your true age.

With cosmetic dentistry, we can make your smile light up a room when you enter it. Through different procedures, we’ll create that beautiful smile of which you’ve been dreaming. With whitening, veneers, implants, crowns and bridges, we can change an average smile into a brilliant one.

Natural-looking alternatives such as advanced metal-free crowns, veneers, bridges, and inlays/onlays look, feel and function like your own teeth, allowing us to conserve as much of the natural tooth as possible. And, did you know that cosmetic dentistry may plump out the wrinkles and lines on the lower third of your face–without surgery?

The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry states 9 out of 10, or 92.5 percent of Americans agree that an attractive smile is an important social asset.

Composite Bonding

A less expensive and less invasive remedy than crowns or veneers, composite bonding is an effective technique used to improve the appearance of your teeth. Bonding is ideal for masking teeth that are chipped, cracked, stained or injured teeth or reducing gaps between teeth. During the procedure, a delicate layer of plastic is painted onto the damaged teeth, adding strength and making them virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. Composite bonding is a quick process, typically lasting less than an hour. Compared to veneers or crowns, it is a popular choice because it does not reduce the tooth’s original structure. Composite bonding is also relatively inexpensive. And finally, composite resins are available in many different shades. The shade can be chosen to match the natural color of the original tooth.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are plates of porcelain that are bonded on the front surface of the anterior teeth. Although they are very thin, veneers become very strong once bonded to the tooth. Porcelain veneers are an excellent choice for covering cracked, chipped, or discolored teeth. Because of their natural appearance, porcelain veneers can make a very pleasing looking improvement to your smile. Veneers have advantages over other treatments – often, little or no anesthesia is required for the procedure and little or no tooth structure needs to be removed.

Porcelain Crown

A crown is a prosthetic tooth that is used to restore teeth where the structure is too weakened or damaged to accept amalgam or dental composite fillings. Dental technology has come a long way to improve the look of crowns.

Porcelain Bridge

Compared to the old style bridges, these works of art are exceptionally well fitting and very natural looking. Using a bridge or crown with a metal base covered with porcelain or using all porcelain material eliminates the dark edges at the gum line that were visible with the old style bridges and crowns.

Invisible Braces

Invisible braces that we provide–such as Invisalign–straighten your teeth without the need for uncomfortable and unsightly metal wires and brackets. While braces produce beautiful results, many patients never wear them for fear of looking unattractive or having many cavities at the end of the treatment. Invisalign is an alternative way to produce results—and is nearly invisible. By using a series of clear, removable aligners, Invisalign straightens your teeth right before your eyes. Change them about every two weeks, and your teeth will move—little by little, week by week—until they have moved to the final position your dentist has prescribed.

Laser Gum Sculpting

In restorative and cosmetic dentistry we can contour and trim gum tissue easily and comfortably with almost no discomfort. Unlike removing tissue with a scalpel, a laser doesn’t cause bleeding or swelling. Having a comfortable post-operative experience is now the norm.

In-Office Whitening

Tooth whitening performed in our office, or by using take-home products, is a safe and effective way to enhance your smile by removing stains from your teeth caused by coffee, tea, colas, tobacco products, and even aging. All of these products contribute to a dimmed, stained smile, which suggests aging.

Full-Mouth Makeovers

In some cases, a full-mouth rejuvenation is necessary to create the smile you desire. These full smile makeovers can involve a variety of these cosmetic techniques: porcelain veneers, crowns, composite bonding, cosmetic tooth whitening, dental implants or bridges. After a comprehensive examination of your mouth, Dr. Henkel will talk to you about your options and help you make the best decision for your smile.
